UNSWORTH James |
BIO-ADV
1890 -
"James
Unsworth, St. Helens Music Warehouse, Church Street, St. Helens. - This, the
oldest and foremost business of the kind in town, was founded twenty years
ago at the present address by Mr. Unsworth, who has for the last thirty
years been professor of music. The premises consist of a large front
show-room, handsomely fitted up and most tastefully arranged, displaying to
advantage a splendid stock of music and musical instruments, including
classical, popular, and cheap music, hymn books of all kinds, manuscript
music paper and books; pianofortes, American organs, harmoniums, violins,
violas, violoncellos, and double bass, strings, &c., all by well-known
high-class makers; as well as clarionets and flutes, accordions,
concertinas, guitars, and banjos, with all requisite furnishings for the
classes of instruments named. For the excellent quality and moderate prices
of the instruments supplied this house from the beginning has enjoyed a
famous reputation. As a teacher of music, and as organist and choirmaster of
Holy Cross Church, St. Helens, which position he has held for the past
twenty-six years, Mr. Unsworth is widely known.

BIO-ADV
(continuation)
For more than thirty years he has been a most successful
instructor, teaching the pianoforte, organ, American organ, harmonium,
and singing, including solos and choral, as well as theory and
composition, and in connection with this department of his business his
services are in great requisition. His long experience classes him as a
first-rate judge of instruments. He is thus enabled to give his clients
the benefit of his long experience in the selection of instruments of
the best and soundest construction. Mr. Unsworth is a quiet, agreeable,
courteous gentleman, a born musician, and highly respected by his
numerous warm supporters and all who have the pleasure of meeting him in
or out of business."
